Quick Start

The DALI-2 Button Coupler is fitted in a flush-mounted box behind your wall switches and turns four ordinary push buttons into DALI-2 controls.

What you need

• Atios DALI-2 Button Coupler
• A DALI bus with a DALI power supply
• Push buttons or switches, wired with no more than 50 cm of cable

1. Mount and wire the device

Fit the coupler into a flush-mounted box, wire your buttons to T1 to T4 against COM, and connect the DALI bus to the two DA terminals. Polarity does not matter. For full wiring details, go to Installation.

2. Choose the operating mode

Out of the box the coupler is an input device. It reports button events to a central DALI-2 controller, which decides what happens. That is the right mode whenever your installation has a controller that supports IEC 62386-103.

Without such a controller, switch the coupler to application controller mode. It then sends DALI commands to lights directly. See Application Controller.

3. Address the device

In input device mode, a central controller assigns the address. Without one, address the coupler with a DALI configuration tool before you switch modes.

4. Locate the device

Once addressed, trigger the buttons in turn. The devices appear in the tool's physical selection list in the order you press them, so you can tell which address belongs to which coupler.

5. Assign the button functions

In input device mode, the events are fixed by the standard and your controller decides what they do. See Button Events. In application controller mode, you assign a DALI command and up to four target addresses to each button yourself.
