Buttons & LED Codes
The Universal8 has eight channel buttons with status LEDs, a Manual/Auto button, and a Programming button, all on the front of the device. They let you operate and commission the outputs without the bus.
Programming button
| LED | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Red, solid | Programming mode active (assigning the physical address) |
| Green, flashing | Application running normally |
Manual / Auto
Press and hold the Man. button to switch between manual and automatic operation. The LED is on in manual mode and off in automatic mode.
In manual mode the device ignores bus messages. The outputs keep their current state until you press a channel button; when you leave manual mode, the state is held until the next bus telegram arrives.
TIP
The channel buttons only work once the application has been downloaded. Before that, they act as a plain switch with an interlock between adjacent channels, which is intended for wiring checks.
Channel buttons
What each channel button does depends on the function assigned to it:
| Function | Button and LED |
|---|---|
| Switch | Each press toggles the output. The LED is on when the output is on. |
| Shutter | Short press to move up or down, long press to stop or adjust the louvre. The LED flashes while moving and is solid at the end position. |
| Fan | The three speed buttons select fan speed 1, 2 or 3; press any button again to stop. The LED shows the active speed. |
| Valve | Opens and closes the valve and shows its state. In a 4-pipe system, separate buttons control the heating and cooling valves. |
