Valve Outputs
The Heat6 has six triac outputs for thermal valve actuators. Each output is configured on its own and can be given a name of up to 30 characters.
Where the control value comes from
Each output is linked either to one of the six room controllers in the device, or to an external controller that sends its control value over the bus.
- Local controller: the output follows the control type of the controller you linked it to: 1 bit for 2-point and PWM control, 1 byte for continuous control.
- External controller: the output works either as a 2-point switch on a 1-bit control value, or as PWM derived from a 1-byte control value. You also set the valve type here: normal (de-energised closed) or inverted (de-energised open).
An external control value can be monitored. If nothing arrives within the monitoring period, the device treats the controller as faulty, drives the valve to a configured control value and reports the fault. With summer/winter mode enabled, that fallback value is set separately for summer and winter.
PWM
The PWM cycle time is set between 1 and 255 minutes, and the control value determines the duty cycle within it. At a cycle of 15 minutes and a control value of 20 %, the valve is open for 3 minutes and closed for 12.
The control value can be limited to a minimum of 0-50 % and a maximum of 51-100 %. You also set what happens below the minimum. For slow actuators, enter their opening and closing times so that short cycles still move the valve fully.
Valve purge
The purge opens the valve fully for 1 to 255 minutes and then restores the previous state. Trigger it from the bus, or let it run automatically every 1 to 12 weeks. The cycle restarts after every completed purge, however it was triggered.
Manual operation and forced operation take priority over a purge and cancel it. A cancelled purge is not resumed afterwards.
Valve disable and forced operation
Disable closes the valve and holds it closed. Control telegrams that arrive in the meantime are recorded and applied once the output is enabled again, and fault monitoring keeps running.
Forced operation drives the valve to a configured control value and has the highest priority of all functions. With summer/winter mode enabled, the forced value is set separately for summer and winter.
Faults
On a short circuit or an overload the output switches off, then tries again after one minute with the current control value. If the fault persists, the output stays off until the device is restarted. The status is reported to the bus if you enable it, and the channel LED flashes.
After a download the valve is closed. After bus voltage recovery it either stays as it was or closes, depending on your setting.
