Installation
The KNX-DALI Gateway is a DIN-rail device. Mount it in your electrical cabinet next to your KNX actuators, within reach of the KNX TP bus, the DALI bus, and your network.
Terminals
The gateway shares the KNX Bridge's terminal layout:
- DC Power (20–30 V DC): wire an external DC supply here if you are not powering the device over PoE.
- DALI Bus: connect your DALI luminaires to this terminal.
- Ethernet / PoE: the network port. It also powers the device when a PoE 802.3af source is used.
- KNX TP Bus: connect the KNX twisted-pair bus here.
Mounting and wiring
- Mount the KNX-DALI Gateway to the DIN rail in the electrical cabinet.
- Connect power via PoE to the Ethernet port, or wire a 20–30 V DC supply to the DC Power terminal. PoE powers the device and provides network connectivity, so no separate DC supply is needed.
- Connect the KNX TP bus to the KNX terminal. Observe polarity.
- Connect your DALI luminaires to the DALI bus terminal. Connect Yellow to DALI ⊕ and White to DALI ⊖.
WARNING
If you use the built-in DALI power supply, make sure no other power supply is connected to the DALI bus. You can enable the internal PSU in the DALI section of System Settings.
Power
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
Use the Ethernet port to power the device over the network cable. No separate power supply is needed. PoE 802.3af is supported.
External DC power supply
Connect a 20–30 V DC power supply to the DC Power terminal.
WARNING
Do not connect PoE and external DC power at the same time. Use only one power source.
DALI power supply
The KNX-DALI Gateway has an integrated 250 mA DALI power supply. You have two options:
- Internal power supply: activate the DALI PSU in the DALI section of System Settings.
- External DALI power supply: if you use an external power source, deactivate the internal one so the two supplies do not conflict on the bus.
The DALI bus supports up to 64 control gear and 16 groups. The gateway works with DALI and DALI-2 (IEC 62386) control gear and supports multi-master operation, so it can share the bus with other DALI masters.
Network connection
The gateway connects to your network over Ethernet only. The datasheet lists no Wi-Fi interface, so plan for a wired connection (or PoE) to the device.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port.
- If you are not using PoE, also connect a 20–30 V DC power supply.
- The device receives its IP address automatically via DHCP.
- Check your local network to find the device IP address.
Accessing the Web Interface
Once your KNX-DALI Gateway is connected and has an IP address, open the Web Interface and select your device. You can also enter the device IP address directly in your browser.
Next, go to the DALI Configurator to commission your DALI lights.
