Troubleshooting
This guide covers common issues and practical solutions to get your SmartCore running smoothly.
SmartCore Not Found on Network
Symptoms: Cannot access the Web Interface, SmartCore does not appear on your network.
Solutions:
Check the physical connection
- For Ethernet, verify the cable is fully inserted into the port
- For WiFi, ensure WiFi is enabled in Network Settings
- Look for LED indicators on SmartCore indicating network activity
Restart the device
- Unplug SmartCore for 10 seconds
- Plug it back in and wait 2-3 minutes for it to reconnect
- Try accessing the Web Interface again
Check your network
- Verify your computer is on the same network as SmartCore
- Try accessing other devices on your network to confirm connectivity
- Restart your WiFi router or network switch
Reset network settings
- Perform a factory reset using the hardware button (10-second press)
- Reconfigure network settings from scratch
Access via IP address
- Check your router's device list for SmartCore's assigned IP
- Try accessing https://[IP-ADDRESS] directly instead of https://setup.atios.ch
DALI Lights Not Responding
Symptoms: DALI lights do not turn on, off, or dim; DALI Wizard discovers no devices.
Solutions:
Check power supply
- Verify the DALI power supply (internal or external) is enabled
- In System Settings, check that the internal DALI PSU is toggled On
- If using external power, verify it is connected and powered
Check DALI connections
- Verify DALI cables are fully inserted into the DALI Bus terminals
- Check that at least one DALI light is connected to the bus
- Look for loose or corroded connections
Test with the DALI Wizard
- Open the Web Interface and navigate to DALI Configurator
- Run the DALI Wizard to rediscover devices
- If still no devices appear, check the physical connections
Verify device compatibility
- Ensure all DALI lights are DALI-2 compatible
- Some older or non-standard devices may not be recognized
- Check the device documentation for DALI support
Check bus configuration
- Confirm the DALI bus is properly terminated (if required for your installation)
- Verify cable lengths do not exceed 300 meters total
Restart SmartCore
- Perform a reboot in System Settings
- This can refresh DALI detection and communication
Matter Pairing Fails
Symptoms: Cannot scan Matter QR code, pairing does not complete, device not recognized in Matter apps.
Solutions:
Verify Matter is enabled
- Open the Web Interface by connecting to your SmartCore here and navigate to System Settings
- Confirm Matter is toggled On
- If you just enabled it, reboot SmartCore and try again
Check HomeKit and Matter conflict
- If HomeKit is enabled, Matter may not work
- Disable HomeKit, reboot, then enable Matter
- Matter and HomeKit cannot run simultaneously
Generate a fresh Matter code
- Disable Matter in System Settings
- Reboot SmartCore
- Re-enable Matter
- A fresh QR code will appear
- Try pairing again
Verify your Matter controller
- Ensure you have a compatible Matter border router (Nest Hub, HomePod Mini, Apple TV 4K, etc.)
- The controller must be on the same network as SmartCore
- Check that the controller has the latest firmware
Check network connectivity
- Verify SmartCore is connected to Ethernet or WiFi
- Try rebooting your network router
- Test from a device close to SmartCore
Clear Matter data
- Perform a factory reset if pairing continues to fail
- Reconfigure SmartCore and try pairing again
HomeKit Pairing Fails
Symptoms: HomeKit code does not scan, pairing does not complete, SmartCore not found in Apple Home.
Solutions:
Verify HomeKit is enabled
- Open the Web Interface by connecting to your SmartCore here and navigate to System Settings
- Confirm HomeKit is toggled On
- If you just enabled it, reboot and try again
Check Matter and HomeKit conflict
- If Matter is enabled, HomeKit may not work
- Disable Matter, reboot, then enable HomeKit
- HomeKit and Matter cannot run simultaneously
Verify your HomeKit hub
- You need at least one HomeKit hub device (HomePod, HomePod Mini, or Apple TV 4K)
- Ensure your hub is on the same network as SmartCore
- Check that your hub is the primary hub in Home Settings
Generate a fresh HomeKit code
- Disable HomeKit in System Settings
- Reboot SmartCore
- Re-enable HomeKit
- A fresh code will appear
- Try pairing again
Check network connectivity
- Verify SmartCore is connected to Ethernet or WiFi
- Try rebooting your WiFi router
- Ensure your iPhone or iPad is on the same network
Try a different pairing method
- If scanning the QR code fails, try entering the HomeKit code manually
- In Apple Home, select "Don't have a code or can't scan?" and type the code
Inputs Not Triggering or Automations Not Working
Symptoms: Button presses or sensor inputs do not trigger automations or device responses.
Solutions:
Verify input configuration
- Check that the input is added and configured in the Accessory Manager
- Confirm the input is assigned to the correct device or scene
Check input connections
- Verify the input wires are properly connected to SmartCore
- Look for loose or corroded connections
- Test the physical input by pressing the button or triggering the sensor
Verify automation configuration
- In your smart home app (Apple Home, Google Home, etc.), confirm the automation is set up correctly
- Check that the trigger device is the correct input
- Verify the action (turn on light, change scene, etc.) is configured
Check network status
- Ensure SmartCore is connected to your network
- Verify the device receiving the command is also connected
- Try rebooting SmartCore and the target device
Enable debug mode
- Navigate to System Settings > Debug Mode and toggle On
- This generates detailed logs of input activity
- Contact support with these logs if the issue persists
Factory reset as last resort
- If all else fails, perform a factory reset and reconfigure inputs and automations from scratch
DALI-2 Buttons Have Limited Event Types
Symptoms: DALI-2 button only sends Pressed and Released events. Short, long, and double-press events are not available.
Solutions:
For blinds, use long press = up / down, short press = stop or tilt. Configure the timing in the smart-home app.
For lights or scenes, build short / long-press logic in Apple Home or Home Assistant using the press duration on the Programmable Switch accessory.
Native short / long / double-press support is on the firmware roadmap.
